The Executive Secretary is IPAB’s highest administrative authority and has the powers stipulated in Article 84 of the Law of Banking Savings Protection (Spanish acronym LPAB). The Executive Secretary will be assisted by the public officials indicated in the IPAB’s Organic Statute.
Considering progress in fulfilling the mandates established in the LPAB transitory regime and the fact that IPAB is in a position to initiate a process of organic restructuring that will allow it to consolidate its position as the institution responsible for administering bank deposit insurance in Mexico and implementing bank resolutions in accordance with recent amendments to the Law on Credit Institutions (published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on July 6 2006, by Resolution IPAB/JG/07/69.4, adopted in its Sixty-Ninth Ordinary Session), the IPAB Governing Board approved a reduction in the number of authorized full-time positions, from 556 to 385.
