One of the IPAB’s primary functions is recovery, through public biddings or auctions, of assets held by full service banks that have taken part in federal government support programs and in which IPAB holds rights to cash flows.
Bidding or auction processes are conducted periodically and are organized directly by the proprietary banks or through third parties specialists selected in accordance with applicable legal requisites. In order to conduct such processes, there must be reference or appraisal values issued by recognized appraisers, banks, or government organizations, such as Nacional Financial (NAFIN), the Institute for Administration and Appraisal of National Assets (Spanish acronym INDAABIN), formerly CABIN, and Banco Nacional de Obras y Servicios Publicos, S.N.C. (BANOBRAS).
